Cpl Elena Mountford Marathon Challenge

Cpl Eléna Mountford has taken on a huge challenge in the name of Military vs Cancer. Eléna is doing this in honour of her biological Mum who she lost to cancer and to her adopted Mum who has survived cancer thanks to the treatment she received at the Oncology Day Care Unit, Hexham. Let’s follow her progress on this amazing challenge.

 

Eléna said ‘We all know someone who has and is going through cancer. It’s a horrific thing that will never go away. This year I decided to set my challenge even harder than last year, and complete 10 marathons in 10 days wearing 10kg body armour’.

“I’m doing the charity event to raise awareness and money towards serving and ex serving soldiers across the tri services going through or have experiences with cancer, we all have experienced losing loved ones.”

“Having lost my biological mum to cancer and watching my adopted mum going through cancer treatment is something horrific and it really spurred me on the help and or at least relieve stressed whilst going through their process.”

“Last year whilst managing to split my time between my job as a metalsmith with the REME including multiple deployments and also training I managed to raise almost £6000 completing 5 marathons in 5 days and now I’m looking to start a new challenge and hopefully help a lot more people”.
