Cpl Eléna Mountford has taken on a huge challenge in the name of Military vs Cancer. Eléna is doing this in honour of her biological Mum who she lost to cancer and to her adopted Mum who has survived cancer thanks to the treatment she received at the Oncology Day Care Unit, Hexham. Let’s follow her progress on this amazing challenge.
Eléna said ‘We all know someone who has and is going through cancer. It’s a horrific thing that will never go away. This year I decided to set my challenge even harder than last year, and complete 10 marathons in 10 days wearing 10kg body armour between 23rd August and 1st September’.

“I’m doing the charity event to raise awareness and money towards military personnel across the tri service environment going through or have experiences with cancer, we have all experienced losing loved ones.”
“Having lost my biological mum to cancer and watching my adopted mum going through cancer treatment is something horrific and it really spurred me on to help and to manage my stress levels whilst going through their process.”
“Last year whilst managing to split my time between my job as a metalsmith with the REME including multiple deployments and also training I managed to raise almost £6000 completing 5 marathons in 5 days and now I’m looking to start a new challenge and hopefully help a lot more people”.
Let’s get together with something that is a challenge and raise some money for Military vs Cancer.
By Sea, Land, Air and All, together let’s make cancer fall.
