Military vs Cancer | By Sea, Land, Air and All, together let’s make cancer fall

Peak District Challenge 10th - 12th May 2024

By popular demand, Military vs Cancer’s Peak District Challenge is back. In association with ET Payroll and Mindful Walks NE, the scenic event offers a weekend full of fun, friends, and fundraising — all in aid of supporting military personnel suffering from cancer, and their families.

Date: Friday 10 May – Sunday 12 May 2024
Venue: Thornbridge Outdoors, Bakewell

Friday

The perfect base sitting in the heart of the Peak District, Thornbridge Outdoors will open its doors to sponsors on Friday 10 May, with check-in available from 17:00pm.

Beautiful grounds spanning 30 acres offer the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor tranquillity for the weekend.

To help guests truly immerse themselves in the team-building spirit, we’re thrilled to be hosting our own networking event at 20:00pm on the first day of arrival. Whether you pop by for 30 minutes or stay for hours of conversation, everyone is welcome.

Saturday

We’ll be lacing up our walking boots and donning our finest anoraks on Saturday, to see the most breathtaking views the Peak District has to offer.

With two circular routes on the cards, our sponsors can opt for a 15 or 22-mile stroll through the rolling hills and vibrant valleys. Taking anywhere between six and 12 hours, these long-distance walks aren’t for the faint hearted.

But scenic sights to behold, funds supporting a valiant cause, and friendly conversations over hearty grub waiting for you back at the accommodation, make it all the more worthwhile.

Sunday

Any keen paddlers out there? Sunday will see teams compete in our ultimate adrenaline pumping water sports activity, the dragon boat race, at Manvers Waterfront Boat Club in Rotherham.

Whether you’re an individual supporter, a group of friends, sports team, or enter through a company — all you need is good rhythm, and a competitive streak. Crews will battle in 6 races, before qualifying finalists go head-to-head for the ultimate glory.

Then it’s ‘goodbye’ and ‘thank you’ once again, until next year!

How to get involved

This challenge is open to EVERYONE, as long as you are happy to take part, have a laugh, and help raise a (dragon) boat load of cash for Military vs Cancer.

Individual participants

If you’re a solo fundraiser or part of a smaller group, event registration is £50 per person. As well as guaranteeing your place on the challenge, this will cover the cost of having qualified leaders instructing you throughout the weekend, dragon boat race entry, drink, snacks, and an event t-shirt.

For an additional £55 per person, you can add a two-night stay at Thornbridge Outdoors to your package.

In a bid to raise as much money as possible to support those suffering from cancer, we kindly ask each participant to raise £200 for Military vs Cancer on the run up to the event.

Corporate sponsors

For businesses keen to rally behind our cause, as well as engage in a weekend full of team building activities and networking opportunities, we have a number of different options available.

Our corporate sponsorship packages outline a range of benefits and opportunities at your organisation’s disposal. These attractive offerings suit a wide range of budgets, and play a crucial role in driving the Military vs Cancer mission.
